Daoist breathing begins with allowing, not controlling. The breath is already moving. Practice starts by making enough space to feel it clearly.

Settle the Posture

Sit on a chair or cushion with a stable base. Let the spine lengthen without becoming rigid. Rest the hands, soften the shoulders, and allow the gaze to lower. Comfort matters more than performing an ideal shape.

Let the Abdomen Move Naturally

Place attention below the navel. As you inhale, allow the lower abdomen to expand gently. As you exhale, let it return. Do not hold the breath or chase a large inhalation. Quiet, smooth breathing is the aim.

The useful breath is not the biggest breath. It is the breath you can sustain without strain.

A Ten-Minute Sequence

Spend two minutes noticing contact with the floor and seat. Continue with six minutes of relaxed abdominal breathing. For the final two minutes, release the method and sit with the whole body. Stop if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable and return to ordinary breathing.
